Appearance and language

Appearance settings are in Settings, under Appearance. They apply immediately, and the main ones follow your account rather than the device, so a change made on your laptop shows up on your tablet.

Theme

Three choices:

• Light
• Dark
• System, which follows whatever your operating system is set to and switches with it during the day

There is also a warm variant alongside the default cool one. Warm shifts the neutrals towards paper and away from grey, which some people find easier for long reading sessions. It applies to both light and dark.

Accent colour

The accent colour is used for selection, focus rings and active states. Pick one from the palette in appearance settings.

Sidebar

Two settings shape the sidebar:

• Sidebar colour, either grey or white, which changes how strongly it separates from the content area
• Sidebar density, compact or normal, which changes the row height and how much fits on screen

There is also a toggle for showing task counts next to entries, which is useful if you like a number on Today and distracting if you do not.

Language

Todowl is fully translated into English and Russian, including every screen, every label, error messages, the starter categories and the starter income sources.

Change it in Settings and the whole interface switches at once. Your content is not translated, only the app around it.

This help centre is available in both languages too, using the switch in the header of every page.

Date and time

Under Date and time you can set:

• Time format, 12 hour or 24 hour
• Date format
• Week start, Monday or Sunday, which changes the calendar and every weekly view

Reduced motion

Todowl’s animations are short by design, generally under 200 milliseconds. The app respects your system’s reduced motion preference where the browser reports it.
