Search
Press the slash key to open search inside Todowl, jump between pages, tasks, transactions, income sources and categories from one field.
Updated:
Search in the app is a jump-to box rather than a report builder. It is designed for getting somewhere in two keystrokes, not for building filtered views.
Opening it
Press / anywhere in the app. The shortcut is ignored while your cursor is in a text field or a description editor, so it never swallows a slash you meant to type.
You can also open it from the search entry in the sidebar.
What it looks through
Results come back grouped, and the groups are:
- Pages, the appβs own screens, so search doubles as navigation
- Tasks
- Transactions
- Subscriptions
- Income sources
- Expense categories
Typing a screenβs name and pressing Enter is usually faster than finding it in the sidebar, and it works the same whether the sidebar is expanded or collapsed.
Moving through results
Arrow keys move the selection, Enter opens it, Escape closes the box. You never need the mouse.
Searching notes
Notes are searched separately, from the search field inside the notes list, which looks through the notes in the project you are in. That covers the common case of finding a note you know you wrote about a specific project.
What search does not do
It does not support operators, date ranges, boolean logic or saved searches. If you want a persistent filtered view, the right tool is a project or a list, which you can return to by name.
Searching this help centre
The help centre has its own search, which is a different thing on a different site. Press βK on Mac or CtrlK on Windows and Linux, from any page here, and it looks through every article in the language you are reading.
